Crossfire

You came toward me like a bullet
Rotating

The inside of a barrel is rifled
That is to say
Lined with curved grooves
To improve the accuracy of a shot

I tried to jump away
I tried to avert the impact
But my heart was in the way

Bullet-you entered me with buttery ease
Shoved aside the skin, the layer of vintage fat
Tore through the fibers of striated muscle
Cracked through the bone
(Sounded like getting ice out of a tray)

And I was hooked
Even though you weren't meant for me
No, mine was to be a different pain

But this wound hasn't healed
Though its source is long lost to me

And you left
Rotating

like the imagery, ripped appart by love, rather gory for the usual love poem, but then i suppose that was what you were going for, nice. Thank you C.
