judine soul

je suis un secret
une poète
deuxième
le premier

i am the silence after the storm
and the echo after the cry
the word after the space
the cornea
the iris

i am france
and russia
and the ivory coast
while at the same time being
chocolate
café du lait
bodhrans
and pianoforte

i speak and am silent
i listen and am mute
i hear and i see
and i will be there
if ever
you need me

loyal to those who touch me
protective of those i love
like the judine soul
i serve

fermez les yeux
et me voir

Author notes

the first stanza, in french, means:
i am a secret
a poet
the second
the first

the last stanza means:
close your eyes
and see me

i would love to be your loyal dog. preferably a saint bernard, but i'll be whatever you want me to be. ^_^

loves!

i love that picture so much.
and the mix of french and english is lovely in this. very fluid. this whole poem is very, very beautiful. and very you. i love all the interesting contradictory comparisons. (and ironic too that as i read this i'm procrastinating on a poem about 'nothingness in buddhism'...)
i love this. everything about it. it's gorgeous. best of luck

yay its the emo picture of me. and wow, thanks. i think i really like it too. because it was supposed to be about me and i'm like "well, what would a poem about me be like?" and it just kind of went from there. so it is really me. ^_^ thanks dear.

nothingness in buddhism? i want to read this when you finish it. ^_^

I love this entry! The way you mixed the French with English made it feel really special, and I even surprised myself by being able to translate some of it myself!!! yay!

I really loved how this piece described the two sides of you so well.....I think most people have two sides to them, I know I do.

    Thankyou for this wonderful entry!

Very inspiring.. I love how you mix French with your work.. Though I more often then not know not what it says your words seduce me and make your poems all that more real to read..

    Love your work..
