My golden lake:
A golden lake stands in my path
No life beckons it,
but shine alone
I gaze in awe, wondering what resides in it
What kind of value might it have?
Involved in wonder I forget my quest
What shall I do?
I ask myself-
It is a lake of gold
No sign of human travels around it
No one has found it but me
I touch it to prove its existence,
yet I feel nothing,
no current,
no life, no touch
It was not meant for human hands
It was meant to drive mankind insane;
To drive them off their true path,
their glory
A sense awoke in me
My path lies ahead,
what I was meant to accomplish in the first place
That lake was not my lake
It was a stranger’s lake that lies here, forgotten
Perhaps it was not enough for the beholder?
Why does it remain here still?
That is someone else’s quest, not mine
I now walk towards my own path,
my own glory
To make my own lake of gold...

I like the idea, i think its about making youw own mark on the world, dunno if im right. But I cant help but feel that it reads like a normal paragraph, rather than a poem. Still, nice subject to write on.
