Poetry without it what would i do?
How could i release all the pain i have inside?
Would i grab that rusty razor in the corner and slice the pain away?
Or would i go to the streets of crime and be locked up every time ?
No i Would do none i wouldn't have to for without poetry the pain would kill all of me alone.
thats why im so grateful that poetry is here and here it will stay.

Emotional release, rewards from sharing, poetry allows a way to speak to the unspoken, sense and not just be sensible. Joy can be share with a quick smile but hurt and pain to often drive the ones we want to know away. I know. It is hard to stay in a world that doesn't hear you.
Love,Tom B.

Thank you for your entry.
There is a lot of personal feeling and emotion contained in these few lines that is worth consideration.
You have clearly written about what poetry does for you but it still leaves me in some doubt about what poetry IS in your opinion and what is the POINT of poetry in general.
It is unclear if you are referring to writing or reading poetry and omits references to specific poets or poems by others.
However I am still grateful for you for taking the time to consider the question and enter the competition.

Windhover I think is on the same wavelength as myself. To be able to release pent-up emotions, anger, frustrations by using words is a wonderful outlet. I know it helped me with grief.
Thanks for your entry

Very well written & from the heart. It is very true that Poetry helps whatever the problem is. This poem made me wonder why I use poetry for issues. Thank you & well done

This is a nice outpouring, but I'm getting old and jaded so it raised a couple questions: why does she keep a razor in the corner instead of the bathroom cabinet? Does the pain normally kill just part of her? This is coming off waaayyy more snide than I really mean it to; I just mean to say that you have a good sentiment but that (based strictly on the way I read poetry) it could use some edits for consistency.
You establish that poetry for you is an outlet for pain, and the pain works as representation of that, though it also seems to move _beyond_ that. This poem isn't simply an outlet for pain, but an expression of belief and faith in the power of poetry: an outlet, but for more than just pain.
