[ you've been a dagger slicing through my life ]

you've been a dagger slicing through my life
for three years now
i've counted each day
scratched it on the wall
long exhausted
and unable to sleep
because you creep into my brainwaves
push it all around

you've been slicing my crack open
prying me with your fingernails
frustrated
at my stubborness
my refusal
to burp out seweed tarnished pearls
but you finally cleaved me
hacked me right open
and held me strange
as i lay in pieces in your hands
and you
there
bored

dropped me to the beach
to race after tidal waves
blowing down upon the earth
seizing my little pearl up, my little cracked shells
washing to the sea

you running
the days are counted now
i'm swirling in the undertoe
pushing past starfish moldy
and seaweed tangeling
but i can still see you
running

the days are all counted
i haven't expired
i was still new
i was still beautiful
i was still myself
the days are all counted

and you're off
exploring now
a much heavier clam
not a clam at all
just a bomb written all over
keep away from children
and you don't see me
drowning in the sea

Author notes

i found out
all those nights i sighed happy love love
he was snorting heroin

Please tell me what you think

    Awesome!

I love extended metaphors, and this is seriously extended! Only one spelling mistake I've spotted: seweed should be seaweed on line 14. I can see that, although you'd rather it didn't happen like this, you're ok letting him go and blow himself up through his own choices.
