Muse
I hide you inside me
& in words visible to prying eyes
& on lines that sing
silent betrayals
& undress you until flesh
that covers you like watercress
on the hillside pond
an old man dug before my birth invites
my lips
my fingers
my fantasies.
I am a water strider
moving quickly
moving quietly
moving surely
across the surface
of your universe.
Please tell me what you think

Teacher--
Just when I think I had lost poetry, I happen upon this, and remember what it means--at least, for me.

Patrice,
For you to lose poetry would be the unimaginable... I am so glad you happened upon this & began to remember what it does mean... & thanks for calling me teacher...

Old Seventy. yup, striders in the spring, and tadpoles, and the Muse pensive at the butterflies along the shore, and small flowers peeoping at the sun.

Thanks, Lute... Someday spring may actually arrive. You have the images in your comment, at least...

I love the image of the water strider (we call them water spiders here)...definitely can relate that to the muse. Nice to see something new from you!

Thanks november rain... I have heard others call water striders water spiders. I was always amazed at how they could walk on water.

The muse...sometimes like water and light in our hands... Very nicely done, poet and the image of moving across water so very effective.

I find that the more I see about this craft, the more I feel. Feelings are the light; the water in our hands. We can not keep the light nor the flow of a stream. Thanks for this comment...
