oh the stories that fill the mind
of the scribe that keeps the remembrance
words of choice to again remind
holding all things in balance
songs of praise to the great one
tales valorous deeds of yore
of how it had all begun
wonders of the past to explore
as memory tells the tale
around the leaping firelight
of those that passed beyond the vale
in our honor is the scribe's delight

oh yes, indeed, we do mark memorials..of people, palces and things that have passed on...well done, but not freeverse, actually.

Stories told by the light of a fire. Written down generations later. Chosen scribes to remind us to remember what we tend to forget. Wonderful poem, so well penned. ~Sie
