The river rushes past,
Washing over my feet.
My adventure has only began,
I have far to go.
Up steep paths,
Over rocky soil.
Around curves,
Never knowing what lies there.
Wheatgrass sways in the wind,
Echoing the ripples of the river.
Flowing as one,
They urge me on.
Climbing higher,
Pressing on.
Sometimes stumble,
Never falling.
Birds call,
Singing of the beauty beyond.
Just over the rise,
Around the bend.
Sunlight dances,
Through a leafy canopy.
The higher I go,
The further my troubles seem.
I've left them behind,
Lingering still by the riverside.
The raindrops fall,
Gently washing over me.
I raise my head to the sky,
They cleanse my heart.
My soul is free,
To soar on eagle's wings.
The rain will not stop me,
I will reach the top.
No obstacle can block me,
I'm marching to Heaven.
Beyond the pressures,
Away from the crowds.
Free of the stress,
Surrounded by beauty.
Nature paints,
In reds, yellows, and greens.
There is no gray area,
All vivid and alive.
Bees buzz happily,
They drink in the nectar.
A morning's delight,
Sauntering through the trees.
The soft breeze blows,
Kissing the dampness away.
One more rock to climb,
One more stone to turn.
Reaching the top,
Looking down on the valley.
Peace envelopes me,
Calm surrounds me.
It's there on the mountain top,
If only you'll make the climb.

I am still climbing trying to make it to the top each new day. We must never give up on life. Amazing write, vivid imagery and emotion. Very inspirational for all. If we have no hope what then do we have? Good luck in the contest and thanks for entering
