My Fluffy Little Brother

You may be my brother
But I don't remember the day you were born
Mommy fed you, but never from a bottle or breast
You didn't wear diapers or even use the toilet!
Never looked like other little boys, your hair wasn't just on your head
You don't even have a normal name!
You aren't an alien, a monster, or a freak of nature.
You're my Snowy, my brother and a dog!

I can cuddle with you, though not quite humanly
I usually just bury my face in your fur and listen to your heartbeat
You don't eat dinner at the table with us
Instead you eat at your own doggy dishes as we watch TV at night
You don't get warm showers every day like we do
It's a grooming twice a year, where they muzzle you so you don't bite!

You're a lot luckier than me, probably because you're younger!
You don't have to go to school, you get to sleep all day long
You don't worry about friends, love, hate, or the bad things of the world
All you worry about is whether you get your rawhide stick at night!

But you don't get to experience things that I do
Friends, going out, and everything else
But I don't mind
You're just a dog
But my beautiful brother too
Snowy
