Phew! Well, doesn't this heat wave continue?
Thirty centigrade is now typical.
April showers, seem to have had their shoo;
It's not capable of being that dull;
Instead, torrid heat and long sultry nights,
With days of basking cats and languid flies;
Squabbling sparrows, putting their world to rights,
To, if none else, at least their own surprise.
Bluebells, though, are yet the dells carpeting.
Even a chance primrose, you still might find;
To show that spring's more than masquerading,
But owns a fairly festooned tranquil mind.
Mid-April, has certainly shown some change,
When temps, to such a high degree, do range.

No need to worry about spring's worst days;
Or how to avoid being over-dressed;
Because, as for times mild, we're in that phase,
As, everywhere verdant nature's expressed.
Varied tulips produce those tapered blooms.
Wallflow'rs are making their appearance too.
Rook its high, twig-built, though well-used, nest grooms;
Replacing fallen sticks with sticks anew.
Rises joyful lark on uplifting wings.
Lithe, light butterfly makes its maiden flight.
At twilight's close, the pensive blackbird sings,
Serenading the dim day's fading light.
Mid-April reveals the mid-season's means,
Of passing that point between two extremes.
