To the family of the shooter at VT today,
I want you to know that I'm going to pray
For you and your son. What a terrible loss.
But I think that the reporters all forgot
The pain and sorrow YOU must feel,
Because even for you, this is a tragedy real.
So out of my heart, and this is quite true
My friends and my family are praying for you.

Has anyone ever stopped to think of how the family of the shooter feels about this whole thing? Is anyone praying for them too?

i cannot imagine the pain this family is going through for should a child of mine (God forbid) ever go off the rails and commit such a terrible crime then i would feel as though i was a total failure as a parent and my heart would be broken with the unbearable pain, i woul dbe torn in to between hatred , pity, fear and love for the future of all involved including myself.a very thought provoking write as you can see by my comment

yes, this was my immediate reaction as well, i think it must be even harder to have the boy you nursed and raised or played with has wreaked so much pain and loss in others life... i can't imagine what that must be like. thank you for writing these simple and powerful words of compassion that somehow got buried in the flury of media.

that is such a nice perception. i would have never thought about that untii i read your poem. that must be an unbearable pain his family will feel.
