Defending whats right.

Putting the foot down,
I had never defended anything,
Always letting it go,
But on this day,
This moment of anger,
I let him have it,

My mums ex boyfriend,
Thinking he was big and tough,
Stood up to my sister,
Looking into her eyes,
Like a growling dog,
Trying to invoke fear into her,
She was only six,
I was ten,
I knew mum was breaking up with him,
Thats why he was being a prick,
But that day I had seen enough of it,
My barrier had been broke,
I stood up to the idiot,
Telling him where to go,
He could have easily squash me,
But I didn't care,
For I was finally standing up,
For what I thought was fair,

He knew he was powerless,
No control over me,
Knowing he couldn't harm,
He turned around defeated,
Walking out the door,
Never would he come back for more,
A smile reached my face,
My sister showed new respect,
Her big brother had defended her,
Thats one thing I'll never regret...

Author notes

My mums ex boyfriend weighed about 150 kilos and he was around 6'3 when he picked on my small six year old sister. Scared but determined I stood up to the bastard and told him exactly where to go. I was scared shitless but I had the upperhand i wasn't his child and he couldn't touch me.

AWWWW...I want to call my big brother now and give him a hug for all he's done for me. You did a great thing by standing up to someone so much older than you at such a young age. I know I would of been pissing my pants. I really like this piece...it has a nice flow to it and rhymed a bit. You're the big brother that we all would just love to have. Thank you for entering my contest...Good luck.

Ah, to have a big brother such as yourself, this was really good. And you managed to make it rhyme in places, Stands up and Applauds. Very good write, good luck in the contest!

His chid or not, he might have... an act of true heroism always contains some amount of fear... this is excellant. ~~~ Val
