Reminiscing Cinnamon

Missing image
Fragrance of cinnamon
filled mother's kitchen,
hanging in quills
of spicy rememberance.

Around winter's fire,
spicy hot cocoa,
hinted with cinnamon
sprinkled aromas,
filling our senses.

Toast with lashings of butter,
scattered with sugar,
cinnamon topped.

Sunday's roast,
devoured,
anticipation
of cinnamon apple,
with hefty portions of custard.

Traditions continue,
quills of rememberance
grace,
a new generation...

Ok, I told myself I wouldn't start reading poems until I knew whether or not they had followed the rules, but this one dragged me in with all it's senses. I still would like to see your username in the authors box, it's critical for a contest with rounds. But I have to say, I look forward to next rounds poem (if you advance) following a theme of senses. If that's the theme you so choose. Good luck, please add your username!

How wonderful and what sweet memories it brings to life. I have so many smells that take me home to childhood and grandma and mammas kitchen.
Nicely done, well written throughout with nice flow and the ending is excellent.
Always nice to think we have passed a memory on to our children and that they will carry it to theirs.
    Lovely work!

Your poem brings back such sweet memories of my own childhood. What was it about Mom's kitchen... and Grandma's, which made it so inviting and hard to leave.

I love this little remembrance you've written

I wish you the best in the contest

hey this was pretty good. I liked it because it just brought back so many memories of walking into my grandparent's kitchen smelling of such delicious aromas. You did a wonderful job reminiscing such delicious aromas. Great piece.

what beautiful bittersweet memories this evokes in me...not as much about my mother's kitchen [but grand-maman] she was the family "goody-maker' and to walk into her front door was sheer seduction by aromas of always something delicious awaiting us [baking]. My mother on the other hand was "chef-extra-ordinaire" for an excellent mealThank you for the memories so eloquently penned and best wishes in the contest,
    much love

Oh! I'm craving something with cinnamon!

What a wonderful poem and such great memories, too! My favorite stanza is #3: "toast with lashings of butter, scattered with butter, cinnamon topped! That one nearly sends me to the kitchen to make cinnamon toast! The language is rich in the poem and makes one "smell it", "taste it" and remember it right along with you!

Ohhh how lovely is this dear sis, I don't like the smell or taste of cinnamon, but you have written this with such beautiful imagery and so very descriptive. I always remember the smell of cinnamon in the house at Christmas when I was a child, think it must have been in the Punch!. Anyway---well done and good luck with this lovely entry for the contest.

    Love ya

I'm hungry now! This was very imaginable. I felt like I was there. Makes me feel like I'm not doing enough in my kitchen! So tonight I'll make sure I cook a hardy meal of... t.v. dinners! Ha! Ha! Keep inspiring me.
