kiss a trembled cheek

Missing image

she takes the trade

in weary measure

saddened at this whole charade

where freedom found

means truly bound

in work till death to gain an ounce

spilled quick--

in not enough to feed

or clothe a home

devotions paint

lacks most basic need

where love and time

are dollars counted

against children's

undernourished

developing seeds

and stricken dumb

she must succumb

to rat race mania induced

pecking order

pierced--

forced to choose

the only path or lose

liberty of life

she works while

family needs her care

if just to put biscuit to table

or kiss a trembled cheek
