Words on a Page

And your voice cut into me
Just echoes in the woods
But I remembered too much to keep
These insecurities locked away
So, I found a place to get away.

Jumping into the freezing river
Just to escape your words and judgements
I think I'll float away far from here
Yeah, I think I'll float away now
Not much effort to float on this river
And where this current will take me
I am not sure
Wearing my Sunday best, ready to arrive
Into a city where no one's alive
All covered in snow and Christmas lights
"Whatever happened to my friend?"
"Oh god, I think that she is dead,"
The questions flew all over town
From every child to every man
The last I heard they published her words
And now they know where she always is
I kept on making way down the stream
Until I came upon an island
Full of savages hunting boar to no avail
So, they began to hunt one another
I got out fast and watched the island
And civilization itself burn into oblivion
Until I came upon the corpse of a man
Larger and somehow happier than
Any I'd ever seen and his smile was still there
Behind the wound deadset in his head
At the end of my journey I had to come back
Gee, I wish I'd never had to go back

As as the echoes fade
I'm back home
What a boring life
