A Fool’s Promise and Request

There’s this problem of being human I hate
It prevents me from connecting me to my mate
So I take this time to ensure that she knows
I’m going to get there … she’ll see that it shows

I exhibit these idiotic tendencies, you see
They manifest as petty and hurtful jealousies
She’s so much more to me than they reveal
So I must now show her how I really, truly feel

This fool makes a promise that he intends to keep
But, he’ll need to find a strength from down deep
He'll muster all he can possibly do to endeavor
To prove to his soul mate that this is forever

For what can be the problem with saying to her
What she means to him in all of her wonder?
He trusts in the love that she has declared
And believes in the depth of the love they’ve shared

So, my dear, take my hand as I take yours
See our connection and feel a love that endures
I’m your believer, your friend, and bedmate, too
I am only what is best in me as brought out by you

You will know by all I have said here today
That this man can grow and face you to say
I will not allow my foibles to our love mar
For I love all that makes you the woman you are

Help me keep my promise
Encourage me
Remind me
Push me
And, even endure me
As I strive to show you
Our Love and Trust will be the foundation blocks
Of that special place we are building for We
