It was just a normal day
I was spending time with my sister
She was beating me at the game
But we were having fun
The next thing that I know
Some people came into the room
They said to go with them
They would explain later
Some things weren’t right with my family
We had some tough times
But we made it through
And we were happy most of the time
We got into a car
When down to some building in the middle of town
We then went into a colorful room
There was a bunch of clothes and necessities
The people that worked there
Told me that some students
From a local school donated these
For families like mine who were going to be separated
I tried not to cry
As I thought of possibly never seeing my family again
It hurt so bad
But they promised me I would be happier with my new family
My sister and I
Got placed with a new family
We had plenty of clothes and necessities
And we began a new life
I want to thank those students
For helping out those
Whose families aren’t perfect
Who need some alone time
They don’t know how much it means
To know that somebody cares
But I thank them so much
With the heart of a child.
Please tell me what you think

I wrote these two poems for a project that we were doing in my service learning class. we were gathering clothes and necessities for kids who had been taken away from their parents or guardians for any reason. After we finished I just felt compeled to write them. Thanks for the comment tho!
