He fights for our country.
Not bathing for days.
Not even having clean clothes to wear.
Its overwhelming, the screams he hears.
Missing his family, missing his friends.
That he might never see again.
He prays everyday, hoping to see another day.
Hoping to come home soon, not having to stay another year.
He hasnt talked to his love ones in months, its too expensive.
The dust flies through the air.
His throat is burning, he ran out of water.
His eyes are red, he hasnt slept in days.
Hes too afraid to close his eyes, to turn his back.
Hes never safe.
People insult him, saying hes dumb.
Saying he made a wrong choice.
Yet hes fighting for you, to say those things.
To do drugs, to drink, to do whatever you want.
Hes there for a year, and you just forget.
Forget about all the young men and women who die
Everyday.
