It is endless
This corridor of my mind
Seemingly empty
Void
Robbed of life
Satiated with death
Stained with the distress
Of a thousand painful thoughts
Dampened by the steady drip
Of criticizing words
Weathered and beaten
Signs of its age
Evident to every eye
Teeming with darkness
Encompassed in shadows
But no shadow can be created
Without light shining behind
No darkness is complete
If a silhouette remains
Not all can be lost
The darkness is only for a moment
As long as a shadow exists
Hope is there beside it
Creeping through the doors
Whispering in the windows
Offering an opportunity
For morning to break through

Loved the ending of this one, holds a certain amount of hope, even though we're in the dark there is a light burning somewhere for us.
Good luck in the contest -
Awesome. I really enjoy the picture inspired poems, and this is why. This poem is just bursting with originality and it flows extremely well. I love how it does not jump around, it tells a story without confusing the reader. Thank you for entering my contest! ^__^

This is most definently the best poem I have read tonight (a nice distinction, i've read many so far)! Your words seemed to flow effortlessly, the sign of a natural artist of words. I also loved how it had a nice touch of optimism, although depression makes for deep and often colorful poetry, it's a nice change to see something with a bit of light at the end!
"But no shadow can be created
Without light shining behind"
This line was genious. I've never thought of it that way, and it lends a great point of view. Thank you for a very enlightening and excellent piece of poetry!
