Formica, Salt and the Path Across the Table ( A 'Huh?' Selection)

Missing image
I can be funny,although
it depends on where it takes place,
like over a formica countertop where
salt is placed awkwardly
in the middle of the fruit plate
or on the table, a psyche podium
on which a visitor shares a path
of nonsensical chit-chat.

if there's conversation, I'll
whiz up a silence and smile
but suddenly, I spit it out;
the truth, the whole truth as I
cover up self-consciousness with
a joke about chickens who never crossed
the street, much less cross-dressed.

Notice I’ll cover my stomach
with a book that has a  boring title-
“A Dummy Book for Calculus Wannabees”;
Yes, well middle age has its hand-outs
to the torso and we need an excuse
to give a stranger a good impression,
but then most people from the past
who struck a chord were never met again
and because no one else remembers, we wonder
if we  really met them to begin with.
Hence, "angels unaware" who won't have names anyway.

So what? I'm so glad I'm not as insecure;
it’s back to the drawing table so we can talk
turkey, poppycock and what-not.

    Cookie, Cute drawing shes already five wow growing up fast you are a really deep thinker and highly bright person I think thats why some may get lost and me to at times. But I reflected in this that your little grandaughter can understand your humor and through life you both can laugh when those times of embarassments or uncomfortable situations. ♥

    I'm sorry but I got a little lost when you whized up a smile, but I quickly found my way back when you got to the part about middle age having its hand-outs to the torso. Thanks for sharing this....I enjoyed the ride...I think!

    Huh? LOL

    perfectly said. these ramblings come together and adhere to a sense of humour that you keep tightly wrapped in form. enough poppycock, good penning.
