We'd never know if angels and demons had been found on Earth,
Living with us on mortal land
Amongst our very faces.
Physically,
They would probably look like us,
Even personify as us in our mortal actions,
Just to fit into our world
To avoid awkward questions.
And although many people believe that the soul
Can be seen through simple features of the human body,
The eyes,
It only leads to a presumption of a character,
A clouded insight,
Where even the truth can be hidden from
The plain and simple view
We thought we were seeing.
For this only gives an overview,
An overview of what might lie within their hearts,
But it does not reveal their inner thoughts or nature,
Good or ill,
It only gives us something to balance hope or despair on.
In those hidden angels among us,
There may be hope within their eyes,
But who could tell if they were actually from Heaven,
Or if they were just blessed with a gift
Of kindness in their hearts?
And of the demons hiding with us,
There may be despair in their eyes,
But could we really tell that they were sent from Hell,
Or if they were just damned with their bad justifications
And strong hatred towards man?
For Evil and Good lies within mortals themselves,
Not just the supernatural.
The real question is not how a person can be so good or bad,
But why.
For I do not feel that mortals could sway themselves
To pure good or evil on their own,
I believe that they would need some help.
So dwell on this;
If angels and demons walked with us on Earth,
Unnaturally in place in our grand design,
Think about how easy it would be for them to persuade a person
To take on some of their ideas
And imprint them into their head.
It seems so easy to accomplish,
Taking ideas from a friend or colleague
That seem completely harmless,
Without ever realising that the ideas that you have shared
May have been given to you, or given to them,
By an angel, or a demon,
Hiding in our mortal world.
In all,
We will never know the truth,
And likewise,
We may not wish to know it...
Author notes
It started off as a rhyme, but I changed it and apparently got carried away.
Describing fighting scenes are not my strong point, so I wrote about how angels and demons could be living among us, maybe closer than we think!
The angels and demons don't mess with free will in anyway, they simple suggest ideas etc. like ordinary people in this world do; and the people have free will to decide whether to take it on board or not. This is suggesting that the words you have heard passed to you may have been started by an angel or demon, adding depth to the words evil and good.
Hope it helps!

in my book the angels and devils will be handicaped in that they can NOT in any way interfeer with free will. They can try to convince you, but they can NEVER make you do anything, or convince you by using threats or anything like that. If Angels and devils could interfeer with free will, well, we'd be in BIG trouble! Thanks for entering my contest!
