King of Hearts, Queen of Clubs,
Jack of Diamonds
Nine of Hearts, 4 of Spades;
Drop the 4 for the four, hoping for a ten.
3 of Hearts, Hand is Lost
What's left, King High.
(Suicide King)
Author notes
I did a series of poems like this and somehow, no matter how random the hands seem to come out, I could always make a connection to an aspect of my life. Let me know if you can too.

This piece worked quite well. I take it as a comment about gambling, and it's very powerful if we're following that vein. Could have used more poetic devices, I feel; the beginning is more of a list.
Thanks for entering.
