Flyboy

I sail listlessly, slicing the air as I pass,
The rush of my heart, on the whistle of the wind,
So high, yet never high enough.

I touch the sun; it's warmth gently laps me,
Waves of excitement follow as I push the stick down,
Acceleration...

100...150...230...290, to much,
My vision blurs, images flash past, fiberglass creakes and groans.
Need...Dive brakes.

I reach them... I slow, I fly on in the illustrious brightness of the sun,
My heart calms, I breathe deep gulps of air.
My hands still shake, threatening to crach me.

I can see the clouds below me,
A soft blanket to the sharp pines.

I can see the mountain peaks beside me,
lonely guards to the valley below.

The risk is all it takes, I and the overwhelming adrenaline
And danger, and... peacefullness?

Ah yes, the peacefullness of solitude,
Of knowing that there is no one standing over you,
Nobody to save you...

That is the peacefullness of the glider.

Please tell me what you think
