You There in the Darkness

You There in the Darkness
By Robyn Dunsdon

When you tore him, did you cry?
Did a morsel of life enter those bones?
We knew it was He.
He, we knew it was.

Do not mourn for us, you who dwell in the ground,
For these wings will soon take flight.
Grieve for your coals,
They will cringe when He returns.

Such a black worm, was the mistake already made?
You there, in the darkness, did you yet forget,
That the light was meant for you too?

Friend of the world, was the mistake already made?
Remember that when you plucked His wings of their feathers,
He plucked more that you might one day fly.

Waiting for you still and every second you linger,
Is one more tear salting the land.
Waiting for you still and every wavering finger,
Is one more nail in His hand.

When you loved him, did you try?
Or was it luxury that delivered you here?
My Lamb offers you more.
More, my Lamb offers you.
