Atlantis Rising

The isle of Atlantis shall rise,
Spawning forth out the depths of the blue-green sparkling ocean,
The one forgotten mystery land floating upwards
Into the blinding glory of the shinning sun,
Casting its old forgotten shadow over the white, breaking waves
Violently leaping upwards below its majestic black earth,
Covered with sea green moss and pink and emerald corals
Reaching upwards,
Like cacti in a golden parched dessert,
Reaching for the warmth of the sun,
Once making the isle of yore their home.

Greco-Roman style temples and pantheons scattered,
Covering the jagged oval structure of the isle,
Their once powerful cemented pillars fallen with time,
Crashing over the entrances,
The roofs caved inwards
Blocking out what lies inside
Keeping their treasures a secret yet
Marine flora twisted around the pillars,
Climbing the posts like twisting slender snakes
imprisoning them and binding them firmly.

The great continent rising high out of the ocean
Expelled from it once murky prison
Rising into the glory of the sun,
To rule the centuries once more.

Wonderful write! Love your use of metaphors. This poem captivated me from beginning to end, causing me to yearn for Atlantis to rise once again, really, so we might peer upon such splendor and learn more than we ever imagined. Enjoyed! Remarkable! And, the subject matter . . . haven't seen that before. You are a poet, but a creative one at that. Thanks for providing something different and mysterious. Love this! Pen on!--Kel

Wow, amazing. I love how you are so descriptive. I'm also a big fan of the whole Atlantis tales. You have a great selection of topics. You set the whole scenery out before the reader and then you give it life. One word: Wonderful.

ooooh...underwater visualizations freak me out...something eerie and scary about it all...yeah, sounds weird...but...that's how it makes me feel

You did a good job making me picture these things and it seemed a well thought out post.

    Very Magical

Yes indeed! I've been reading about this for the past 3 years. The cosmic cross isn't far away. We have nine more years left. Wouldn't it be nice to see it in all its splendor. Excellent write here. I love this.
