Sore Shoulders

Missing image

~~~~~
My head hurts
in a numb uncumbersome kind of way
that masks the restlessness in my bones
and the fear of freezing in place
without having changed
the diaper
that holds this shit together
I wish I could feel a sharp pain
and not this vague ache
shaking me to the marrow
and sucking on my bones
already over-run with ants
boring holes through the chalky dirt
of what I used to call my virtue
I want to go
I want to go
I want to go
somewhere where I can breathe
without the heartburn
    I am on it now....
    I hate it when Aunt Flow unpacks her bags!!!
    I love this poem. I love the symbolism and the inspiration. It is like a double edged sore with two meanings.
    I really like this one.
    The metaphors show a lot of through just a handful of words. Great work! The rag blues can really get to us all, can't they?
    very well done
    the writing is very good the use of image and metaphor is effective and the forgetting is a plea for release to a less burdened world; the reader feels the reasons for the plea. This is a very skillful writing using few well chosen words to deliver a message and some viewpoints... very well done. Thank you for this fine entry in the contest and best of luck to you in the judging...PK
