Early April (07)

Early April (07). For any who may be interested, 'Early April' (2006), is typed under this one.

Early April's become like early May,
It seems now, as that month, as warm at least;
Although it's fairly sure that winter's ceased;
As nothing of its chilly frosts convey,
To dispel all those warming glows away.
When the land, the plough, has earlier creased,
Perhaps the sheep should earlier be fleeced;
The year, earlier, shows a summer ray.
There's been a bursting forth, of life, in growth,
Over even the previous weeks, few.
The leaves, to clothe the trees, are far from loth;
On the living trees, leaves, from buds, renew.
Blooms and stems, fertile seeds, are growing both.
From bulbs and roots, also, green shoots spring through.

Early April

Over nine daisies levelled I my shoe,
Which, according to custom, means it's spring;
But aren't many birds that are on the wing,
Making their nests and rebuilding anew?
And furred bumble bees are doing so too.
For, here is the year's great awakening.
Nature, to creation, does new life bring.
Blossoms blooming, testify this is true.
Violets with daffodils the wood decks.
Great spotted woodpeckers make mating din.
Chaffinch, no more forsythia bud pecks.
White horn-beaked hen does male coot hope to win.
Thrush, mottled, hatches young with sim'lar flecks.
All this have we - to see the spring begin.
