What really makes us different
As human beings,
Is it our varied wants and desires?
Why can’t we settle our
Seemingly endless contentions
Before we’re driven deeper
Into a social quagmire?
Can’t we all agree to just disagree
And simply leave it at that?
I think it’s possible
If we just try,
Let’s take our civility back.
Haven’t we progressed beyond
The barbaric warring tribes
Of our distant and ancient past?
Because I’d hate to think
That there yet remains,
A societal chasm dark and vast.

beautiful! I agree with everything you said in this poem. It's sad, but true. The world is changing in the wrong direction. Sadly.

Ah, deep stuff here
Though I agree with you on the points you made here... society has become very shallow and self-seeking. I don't know how we became this way, or if there even is any redemtption from it... But I think the answer lies in personal choice..to choose to rise above selfish desires, or to conform and put oneself before the rest...
I dunno.. just my perspective, I guess!
Anyway, great write here. Deep, thought provoking and beautifully penned. Well done.
