So we swam ashore from our wrecked barque
Held fast among the rocks
Struggled up the sandy beach
Soaked down to our wet socks.
At first it looked like any other
Firm sand washed by the tide,
Cocoanut palms and Mangrove swamps
Lots of room to hide.
We slaked our thirst in sparkling streams
And set out to explore
Tree branches made a canopy
Across the forest floor.
It soon came clear to our surprise
This was no ordinary place
The people that did dwell here
Were a completely different race
There were leprechauns and fairies
Elves and dancing gnomes
Every kind of little folk
Made this their island home.
In a forest clearing
We spied a magic sight
A fairyland high castle
That reached to quite a height.
It had battlements and towers
From which long pennants flew
And gardens with tall flowers
Of every shade and hue.
Then out stepped a fair damsel
Dressed all in purest white
"Welcome here dear strangers
I pray thee don`t take fright"
She held a regal unicorn
That was her royal steed
It had the single pointed horn
We to her words paid heed.
"This is Enchanted Island,
The people who live here
Live in contented harmony
From no one do they fear.
You are welcome friends to stay here
A month, a day, a year
Just one thing I must tell you
Just one thing to make clear.
Any voice that`s raised in anger,
Or cause to make a frown
You will wake from your deep dream
To discover that you drowned."

It sounds like a great place ... you have a wonderful knack of portraying images within a rhyming sequence that appears totally effortless. How do you do it? I digress. The ending is particularly delicious as it envelops your humour within the lines ... A fabulous entry.
