cold hands
empty stomach
carnival scent
foul taste
throat scratchy
mind wandering
...where is she?
it's going too quickly
nothing's stopping
one thing after another
she wants the wheel
the control back,
resting sweetly 'neath her hands
but instead
she's ignoring it.
the want trying to reappear
begging for a part in her life
as she brushes it off her shoulder
while taking another puff
off of her cigarette
and curling up next to her boy,
kissing him gently.
