Under the Barren Tree

Under the barren tree,
stood Father and Child.
Child held father's hand
and said, "Don't leave me."
Father smiled sweetly,
"Never will child."

Sunset under the barren tree,
Father stood all alone.
There he cried hopelessly,
He'd rather stay at home.
War was on his back
and he must go.
Hopefully he would be back
'till tomarrow.

Under the barren tree,
stood Father and Child.
Child held Father's hand and said,
"Don't leave without me."
Father sighed and looked away,
"That will have to wait
'till another day."

Now under the barren tree
stood child all alone.
Father left him, far from home.
"Father did not care,
Father did not love.
Father will burn
and i,
will live in the stars above."

Under the barren tree
the child stood again.
Child cursed angrily
but he did not understand.
That Father fell gracefully
on the battle land.

There, Father held his breath
and remembered Child once more
and forgot of the wounds he bore.
"Remember me Child, I remember you.
Know that i'll always love,
no matter what you do."
And Father passed away.

Under the barren tree
Child cried,
"Father did not love me,
and now he has died!
Now I am left all alone,
with only this tree,
where I can no longer be
at Father's side.
