Ghostly specters haunt these hallowed halls,
Their piteous wails echoing in the night.
Spirits trapped, tormented by their sinful past.
Anguished cries resound in corridors of my memories.
Skeletal fingers reach out, grasping, pulling me down.
Desperately struggling against the shadows, I pray.
In the depths of my despair a light appears.
A strangled sob escapes, arms thrown wide, awaiting
Heart open, my soul embraces this guiding light.
Wrapped in the comforting embrace of this heavenly glow,
The specters are at last banished from my mind.

If it were not for the raging malestrom of self purgatory inside (guilt, anxiety, fear and all that good stuff), some of us would just be hollow shells full of rotted soul...
