My dream
You sat on the edge of my bed
Stroked my hair
Kissed me on the cheek
And left
And when I woke up
I could still feel you
Even though it was just a dream
And you were never there
My hand went to my cheek
So strong a memory of that caress
Was coursing through my veins
That I cried
And you know I don’t cry easily love
That was the worst of it
Because I’d dreamt so sweetly
And you were never there
