Trainwreck

They say she's a trainwreck...
But I wonder, do they know her?
No one will touch her...
Too much...drama, they say.
You see, her tears
Bring out fears that
Maybe more is goin' on 'round here
Than appears.
But in her dreams
Or at night when she sings
Herself to sleep,
The same, tired acrimonious melody
Could make a robin weep...
Or blow it's brains onto the street
The aesthetics of it all leave little imagination to the mind
But since looks divine
Will pass with time,
Does beauty really matter down the line?
Not to the girl in the mirror
The one left wiping away at tears
Because the lie she lives becomes less sincere
And now the time is here
The tracks are slick
"Who the fuck is he, man fuck that dick!"
Says the devil on the left about the angel on the right
The rails go down, and now the lights...
The fast-action trainwreck occurs out of sight
In the bathroom over the sink
A little redrum for her demons to drink
And the papers the next day, they won't even think
Twice about taking the vice that she fought
And exploiting it for the new car the paycheck just bought
"She's selfish," they'll say though they never have met
All will hear about daddy's little trainwreck

Author notes

I don't know who all will pick up on this, but this piece actually lends a sympathetic voice to victims of suicide. Maybe it's more than being "selfish."

    Woah.

You all know about my Girlfriend who committed suicide, so this poem hit home, and technically it was her dads fault, so i loved this poem. it made me cry so hard! great job... you caught the emotion, not just the physicality... keep it up.

Coming from the point of view of someone who's brother committed suicide this is a poem I can relate too, when my brother took his life all I heard was... what a stupid man to do that look at the life he had or could he be anymore selfish it is the one's left behind that have to deal with his mess now but the worst one came from the mouth of my mother, she said the next day my brother was nothing other than a coward and he took the easy way out, my brother has been dead 12 years now but this statement has always stuck with me and I will admit this still makes me angry.
I see suicide differently than others may and I won't go into details here but I think it takes a great deal of courage and heartache to do something like that.
Anyways sorry for rambling on just wanted to say this was an interesting write and one I can relate too.
Well written and indeed a pleasure to read.... julie

      Thanks

First and foremost, I'm sorry to hear about your brother. Secondly, thank you very much for the comment, much appreciated! It's always nice to know someone enjoys my work...though sad when they can relate to it in instances like this. Again, thank you.
