Childhood memories are linked to a church
Built strong like faith, Built to make you believe
Childhood memories are linked to a shame
Built her weak, Built her quite afraid.
There were many times she wish she could believe
how easy would it be to hang her head (in defeat)
And ask for forgiveness for not believing
For having no faith in something more.
How frightening it was as a child,
scared to share your deepest secret with anyone.
A secret so terrible for a child to keep.
There is no god for her to believe in.
Spending teenage year searching for the truth
Finding lots of believers, many who are faithful
To a God they cannot see. Cannot reach
And to an intense need to believe.
Seeing a different faith for each man
Acknowledging that some need to believe
Understanding that miracles are real.
Knowing they come from hope and hardwork.
Finding as an adult that she didn't believe
Worrying at first that she would be lost
Only to fall on solid ground.
Solid like a church. Solid like beliefs.
She's come to know where her beliefs lie
In herself and those she trusts
She's come to accept that she may be wrong
Not believing is risky.
But she just can't force herself to lie.

Great poem you've got here. I didn't really understand it at first, but now I get the gist of it. I agree with The Void, about it being sad because she doesn't have a saviour. Nice one.
Good luck in the contest
best wishes as always
