Your Gift to Me

Your words descend
and settle upon
my wanting soul,
Gifting me
with an escape.
A needed chance to
step outside,
and reach beyond
my own narrow view.

Through the uninhibited
release of your souls,
my world expands.
My heart aches
wallowing in your sorrow.
My spirit soars
on the wings of
your thoughts.
And I am blessed
with a rainbow view
of a world different
than my own.

My tears mingle
with each letter
painstakingly
etched with your pens.
I become one
with your misery
as well as
your unbounded joy.
I forget the notion of I,
as empathy purges
my own selfish sins.

I find myself floating
on golden clouds
of imagination,
While wading comfortably
In a soothing sea
of metaphorical meanings.
And Serenity finds me…
