CONGRATULATIONS!!! (Grads)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Hey young Grads
good show I say
you've done it now
you've showed us how

You've had some good times
You've made some good friends
and soon you'll be off
to do it again

So good luck in college
You can do it
Have a real wild time
but don't over do it

Try to make friends fast
many of the early ones
will be the ones
who last

Unless you love
to get up early
don't schedule your classes
way too early

And try to get to class
as much as you can
you'll be glad you did
then you'll deserve a cold can

But try not to party
too much before class
you'll more likely attend
and you won't be an ass

If you fail the easy Calc
don't take the harder one
just keep your eye on the ball
between all the fun

You'll be entering
sort of a fantasy land
of reading, writing, and thinking
with those who can lend a hand

So, do your best with grades
but at least finish the task
and soon another graduation
will come at last.

So
Congratulations,
Good Luck,
and Have Fun!

Author notes

I initially wrote this for some contest last year, so I thought I would also post this here, because I wish I had heard this before I went to college.  lol

I think it perfectly fits to a graduation... Especially I love this verse:
    "Try to make friends fast
    many of the early ones
    will be the ones
    who last"

This is cute. I was hoping for a more generalized graduate poem as I just graduated from graduate school. But oh well. This is certainly good words of wisdom for those youngins' just entering college, though!

Interesting fluctuation of rhyming patterns. Generally A B A B, but occasionally slipping into A B B A and A A B B. And occasionally the words meant to rhyme were the exact same word.

    But I liked it.
    Cute message.

you know this is a nice poem but your rhyming is a little redundant with the can, can and the early early but other that that you have a really nice poem

Hey great work! I just graduated (though not high school, only grade eight for me), and we had a terrific party and ceremony. I can't wait till high school (or university or a car or my first job or...lol). Nice write, and I love the message!

Awww, blessies, over here it is very much an anticlimax, okies left now what type of thing, I think that is what makes the difference between the UK and the USA, that sense of Identity.
We have lost that, or maybe you took it away when you gained your independance.

Well. As one of the class of 2004, thank you for the advice. I probably won't take it, but then I'm rather stubborn in my ways...xD

Really, though, wonderful advice and fun poem. Actually, considering how into my education I am, I won't be the one doing all the partying. Wonderful write and thanks for sharing! ^^

For some people its hard to leave what you put 4 years into. Writting poems like this one really makes a person feel good about graduating, they have accomplished something.

It's a nice and also inspiring dedication to the next professionals in our world, and it definetly raises our heads up. Once again, very nice job and I hope to see more of your posts up here really soon.

What a great dedication to all the recently graduated class of 2004! Little do they know how fast time will fly now that they are "adults"...lol. Time seemed to almost be at a standstill before i graduated high school...but then ...BAM...it all started whizzing by and every year it seems to go faster and faster. I do not think i am liking it at all by the way! lol. And 13 years after graduating with a Bachelor's degree i am back in school working on my Master's Degree...and reading this made me think of my own "new" graduation to come. Will be a good day!

Again, very nice tribute to the recent graduates!
