Across the Distance...Part I

I sit here thinking of a wilderness three thousand miles away,
a universe of hopes and dreams lies between us.
Sultry breezes grant no reprieve from the heat you stir in me.
Visions of crystal pools spark longings that my desert vistas can never satisfy.

Oh, to feel the cool winds on my skin,
your caresses to warm me against the chill,
crisp northern air drawing us to each other's embrace.

The near-forgotten romance of a fire,
unbearable in my home yet so perfectly a part of yours.
Even the stars here shine more brightly sparkling like jewels,
but envious of the golden hearth-light in your eyes.

The brilliance of your chestnut hair never faded by the sun.
Your soft skin glows next to my own baked brown by southern afternoons,
your lips tender and full beg me to taste them moist, sweet, addictive...
better than the wine we've sipped and far more intoxicating.

Feeling us wrapped in and around each other
a fleeting question crosses my mind;
when I've found my way to your side will I be able to find my way back home
will I even want to?

Sitting in the train station reading his letter three thousand miles away
brings back a flood of emotions.  Their discussions of life, oh! the  responses
her body was beginning to stir within her.

His touch even when he wasn't touching her.  The brush of his hand,
his warm and inviting eyes.

Making love together in the soft light of the fireplace, his sensual
touch still lingering inside yearning to have more.  The smell of him,
while making love to her awakened to that moment.

She can still see him in that intoxicating vision, the sparkles
of the wine, the crackle of the fire where  two souls were joined
under the star filled sky.

Her pen in hand she writes him back.  Wanting to know when
she can see him again, if his life is still free of anyone else. Not
wanting to complicate his life.

Yearning for him her heart has taken over, ready to give
herself completely to him and all he has to offer.
