Standing on a balustrade, wearing red leather
and a fuck-you attitude she drug me
to warmer climes away from where chatter
filled northern nights’ teeth-clenching harshness.
She tugged at my soul like a witchy woman
weaves her magic on a lunar loom,
and sticky stars drew near
to be gentled by her holy hand.
Her laughter healed my Universe
of its soppy sorrow, simply by nearness
and necessary nuances kneaded in muscles
that were weary from my wrecked fabrication
of dreams and desires, ruined by an unkind god.
In the quiet curve of her caution, I unfurled,
threaded in silver and studded
with brilliant tears of joy in her companionship.
Who could have known she might need
the ruche of ruffling and gathering strands
of my simple embroidering skills, later
when things of her own came undone.
Changing gold linings for sack cloth,
we have woven friendship from far-flung fear
of being alone in a frenzied forest of feelings.
Goddesses know when to rest and when to stir
stars until the sky foams with soulful surrender
to a sister who knows the map of the sky.

She was indeed wearing a red leather suit in the first picture she sent to me over a decade ago....from there, a lifelong friendship is growing with every poem, every email we share..I would not have made it through without her and I liek to believe, my hand has tugged her along when she needed to be.

She is a soul sister for sure.....no more honest and caring a sister have I know for these years..and she helped me through my toughest when I swarmed her for help to understand how such an awful thing could happen to such a pure soul...always, she soothed me and allowed me to grieve and I know, when I need help with it in the times it floods over me, even yet, that she is the closest to understanding and knowing both of us and what it took of me to get through.
