Selling History

History is a big book of stories,
that was never printed but in the sand,
of things going right,
and often wrong,
but always aiming,
for a better place.

The history they sell,
is a weapon,
The history they sell,
kills,
The history they sell,
is not a history,
but a message,
and a narrow street,
and peer pressure,
and a justification,
for the way things are,
so we forget,
how they should be.
how they could be.

I think there is a definite intelligence at work here, and I really could agree more with the sentiment you have expressed in this poem. Our history, is indeed, more often a facade to define, justify, and enable our present. Ironic, no? But mankind approaches and inevitable and escapable end. Darwin got at least this much right: we must adapt, or die.

I read once that the definition of insanity is to keep doing what you have always done, all the while expecting a different result. That would make a good preface for the witty warning you have crafted.

    Great promote, thanks.

Yes, I agree that we do forget how things could be or how we feel they should be.

I think you could make this even better and more emotionally powerful by going more specific in examples rather than more general.
