What I Think of Feminism.

.

Feminism is :-

That which was great but exists no more,
Equality decrees not to open their door.

Peace and quiet disappeared with the bra,
They drive themself now in their own car.

Jewellery a gift now bought for themself,
Engagement rings in a pile on the shelf.

A trait seen much more in gays each day,
No wonder women have so much to say.

Making decisions and equality of choice,
Shrill and harsher echoes a mutual voice.

Evolution will see them a stubbie* in hand,
With hubbie at home with kids unplanned

But shovelling dirt or a flat tyre to change,
A process unknown, now isn’t that strange?

The battle was won but why on earth stop?
May as well keep going right up to the top.

So, you think the women of yesterday are all gone? Nope, there are still a few of us left. I would love for my SO to open doors for me, pick up the check at the restaurant, not get upset when I do things for him. Ah, my dad spoiled me.

There are a few grammar issues with this, but overall, it was nice. You have enough humour to appeal to even those evil feminists.

    Congratulations on your placing.
    Thank you for sharing.

Congratulations on your honourable mention in despatches. However: I feel this was a bit over-generous as anyone who thinks you can use "themself" like that needs a stubbie shoving somewhere painful.

This was such a great poem. You have bought up some issues which i am sure would upset some people but you have done it such a homourous way that if they get upset, thats their problem. Well done on this great write.

I loved this and not at all what I expected. I admire women who still stand back waiting for a man to open a door (I'm one of them) and I don't have the physical strength to undo the nuts on my car wheel to change a tyre so I leave it to the men. Some events in life are gender based but then I do have my own fishing rods and small tool kit - go figure thanks for the entry.

Just like any other issue, some people are perfectly content to take things too far, as you have illustrated for us here in this humourous piece! I always found it interesting to deal with "power women" here in the states...they get so upset when actually given full equality! LOL A splendid write Brudder!

But shovelling dirt or a flat tyre to change,
A process unknown, now isn’t that strange?

I love that stanza!! Truth permeates this one, though I kinda hate to say it! Bravo!!!

I love being a woman and I like to be loved and cared for and have a door opened for me and someone to stand up on the bus for me and someone to take off their hat and shower me with roses and chocolates and, and, and.We were born to be spoilt and if these so called power women can't see this then they are missing out.Personally I cannot stand power women.Women bosses are the pits.Give me a man every time. They actually understand!!!!!!!!, Ros

I take my hat off to you !!

My hat off to you too. I admire your being content with being the way God created you and for not trying to be what you are not and never will be. There is nothing wrong between the sexes and really, what is wrong with either gender ?? Both can do things the other cant... so what ?? But the one sided race to supremacy will finally fail. Thankyou for the honest and sincere comments and the generous applause of hard earned points. I am glad I am not a woman for they have it tough in some ways same as men.... just different ..that's all, that is life.

    Funny funny my friend

Well Barry, Your words are funny but so true. I never was into this feminism stuff. I think there is too much differences between man and woman to ever be the same. I like a man to open the door for me and pamper me a little. What the heck is wrong with that. I like being feminine. As long as you respect each other and treat each other with respect, you can be equal in your differences. Just my thoughts on feminism. I never could quit understand it. You take care,

    Sandy
