Psalm 8 Verse 4

Missing image
A tiny blue marble in a black sea of larger balls
Lit by a little burning mass exploding with majesty.
What are these minute bags of water
Rising from the dirt of a water dominated sphere?

A lump of clay spinning on a wheel,
Round and round ever faster,
Wet and shapeless out of control,
Until aged hands delicately caress.

Less than a century in an infinity of time,
A whisper, a breath in the wind, then gone.
A weed that rapidly ages then dies
Thrown into fiery pit, burned to nothing.

On an obscure night in a dirty animal pen
An infant is born to two young paupers,
Laid in straw and hay for a bed
Paid homage that night by lowly shepherds.

The creator of universe vast and wide
Landed on this tiny ball of dirt and water
To mold and shape his clay images.
The infinite became finite to redeem the time.

On a piece of wood made by his very hands
Hung deity condemned by his own creation,
A pierced bag of water quenching the dry land,
A root sprung only to be cut down in its prime.

Mortal man on tiny planet earth in the vastness of space
Is but a lump of clay, a piece of dirt in the creator's hands.
He lives only seventy years maybe more then is gone.
Who is he that God should come, live and die for him?

    Really powerful.

This one goes from his birth to his death and then speaks of those that he died for. I liked all the metaphors and the way this poem worked out.

    A Masterpiece

This Psalm was coming to me and the verse without looking it up! A wonderful masterful write,on the greatness and wonder of our God...That He should come and visit us in the person of His son Jesus! You artfully wrote in a surrealist manner then made it more real after the first verse....How minute we feel in the scope of Gods'greatness and love. His wonders, and love beyond human comprehension...A Masterpiece of write and thought!

Your question is one that no one could answer unless we look at a parent's love for a child, but even that is puny compared to our Lord's Love for us.

I enjoyed this very much. The way you chose to tell larger pieces of the story in each stanza is intriguing and well written. You have done much justice to your chosen option.

Thank you for entering and good luck in the contest. Hugs, Patricia
