daytime murder

i walk up the stairs
searching for my life
i lift his unsteady head
and pull back on that fucking knife

tears stream my face
as he wails and crys in pain
he grabs my arm so tight
and screams my horrid name

please, don't ever let go"

the words echo into the house
now filled with light and blood
i wipe away the tears
that thicken up like mud

lying in my arms
is the body of a dead one
the love i used to kiss
he's breathing's almost done

i lift his head up higher
blood spilling from his mouth

hoping his death's a doubt

the words resounding in my head
the throbbing so dense and shrewd
i grab the knife that was inside his back
shoved there oh so crude

"this is for truth
and for the love i share
i'm coming hubby, with you
together we'll go i sware!"

i force the knife through my chest
something splits and slides
i feel the heart stop pounding
and everything implodes inside

together they fall to rest
they're joined now sweet as one
they died for each other at the same hour
