~~ The Winged Unicorn~~

Missing image
Happiness softly erased the sad from the night
As two hearts merged with joy then descend in flight
Cascading into abyss of emotions
A wonder was born
Heart to heart
Drifting
Upon loves winged unicorn~

Essence of tender wings, founded an isolated paradise
Where bliss flows like a river
Heaven was so precise
Love blossom as elysian fields of wildflowers
A garden of Eden
Animated by joys effervescing powers~

Meantime rain of angry storms poured down upon paradise
The demise of love was brutal, an exorbitant price
Loves tender wildflowers slowly disfigured and thorned
The loving creature evolved with two hearts viciously horned~

The memory reaches to capture the splendor that was born
Always to be lured in the pain
Garden of thorns
Only joyful wings of the heart can enter into loves paradise
And then precious with profound tender loving emotions
True love
Within its awesome wonder
As it is softly born~

  • This is very magical and beautiful, Complex and deep.
I enjoyed reading this. Though I wish there was more reference to the unicorn.

Thank you for entering it in my contest. I love the image you have used, I believe it is by Josephine Wall. If it is so, I think you ought to credit her in your author's notes.
Keep on writing and good luck.

    Lovely poem, Sis!

You wrote this awesome poem on my birthday five years ago. Time flies..like the magnificent unicorn you write about so well! I especially love the first line.."Happiness softly erased the sad from the night". Beautiful pic' of the unicorn..it seems like you actually traveled to another world where unicorns exist and brought back the beauty from that other world.

Best of Luck in this contest, Sis! I think you deserve more than an honorable mention for this fantastic poem!

    Much Love!

From start to finish every word of this poem is stunning. It actually put a smile on my face. You have captured and expressed the beauty of the unicorn so well in this. The picture is also very beautiful. I love this poem which is helped even more seeing as I'm a huge sucker for unicorns and have been collecting everything unicorn from statues, paintings, stuffed animals, etc. my entire life.

It is difficult to capture the elusive beauty of the unicorn--the image recreates it visually, and the poem re-works that image into words. Nicely done.

This part of the poem started my brain to work. My life seems to be born of pain. I have had plenty of thorns in life. Some day I will get joy filled wings. I love it so very much. You inspire to work harder on my poems. I feel they are lacking something. This a pure lovely write. I can not sleep due to the pain. Love it!!

    Exquisite

Oh, this is so beautiful, Susan! And, as you know, I simply adore Unicorns: those magnificent creatures of the Old Testament. And, you even managed to put a Unicorn pic with this delightful read that I actually do not have. Hope you don't mind if I steal it. LOL!

You talent shines exquisitely with this piece that so reminds me of God's love amidst a chaotic world filled with hate. Only through Him is true love found and can be born within us. Excellent, dear one!

Good luck in the contest! Love and hugs, Bon

I definitely had to see what this poem was about since I just wrote a poem called Unicorn. I was completely amazed and not let down at all. I am very impressed how you seem to come up with a great picture to go with such moving words.

OK..... I don't know what I could say that could top what everyone else has said.... Unicorns have been a favorite of mine since before I could remember..... I've written a few unicorn poems and couldn't quite captured the words the beautiful beast deserves.. You've done it wonderfully! And you made another unicorn lover extremely pleased... Thank you!

Quick question - is that picture "shareable" If I saved a copy of it, I wouldn't use it on this site, just keep it for my own personal desktop use. I enjoy unicorn pictures and I haven't seen one quite as beautiful as this... It does suit your poem perfectly! Either way - lovely work!

Well, this one definately took my breath away for a moment. I read the words, stared at the pic, closed my eyes, saw two souls, entwined as one, carresing gently, enjoying one another, then...the beast emerged...boy I could go on and on. What inspiration! Lovely...just lovely! Skipper

Softly , gently and such emotion ....these words can transport one to a place where one wants to be forever , and yet the sadness also seems a bit prevalent. But you do have a wonderful way with magical words ....or are the words ordinary and YOU make them magical?:) always

This poem is beautiful and so much more.. It's very gentle and wonderful that I as the role of the reader enjoy it so much that I've liked it a lot. I love unicorns and their serene calmness to nature and maybe just maybe a bit of magic as well.. The picture and the background is just the perfect touch to make this poem come alive. First, praise to the time and effort in presentation, Lovely picture, sets a fire inside the imagination.

    "Cascading into abyss of emotions"
I might think about phrasing here... Cascading down the abyss of emotions...maybe ? just the way I would read it...

"...creature evolved with two hearts viciously horned..." This brought such strong visuals and was a fantastic metaphor for love.

I really enjoyed reading this - thanks for the opportunity!
