Shallowness is rewarded,
depth looked down upon.
Anyone could get naked in front of a camera and become a celebrity.
But fighting to keep your clothes on makes you a news story.
Intelligence useless,
stupidity a necessity.
Saying stupid things makes everyone feel better about themselves.
Saying profound things makes everyone feel "dumb".
I am just sick and tired of all the stripping and all the demeaning activities.
So I will stand up for the intellectuals and those who fight for morals.
I say,
"Give Me Depth Or Give Me Death!"

Excellant/intriguing
A very fine write, although some may question "whose morals", considering the variety of cultures and sub-cultures we have in this country. None the less, you expressed your self quite well and thanks for sharing this piece. -

Nice allusion to Patrick Henry, a powerful quote to spark the reader's interest followed by a interesting contrast between shallowness and death. Good subject matter, the one thing I would suggest is finding a synonym for stupid/ stupidity. I definitely enjoyed this!

I agree totally with you. I think you stated your opinion very well (& very loudly, so to speak); the only thing is that it's not quite long enough for me! You've got two great comparisons ("Shallowness is rewarded, / Depth looked down upon", "Intelligence is useless, / Stupidity a necessity") that I really liked, and I was kind of hoping there'd be more.
"Give me depth or give me death" is a great line.

this was certaining... enlightening. You are 100% right though. i mean it's like Paris Hilton who is famous for absolutely nothing. I love the message behind these words. It's def. something to think about.
