the first time he sang for me
stroking the keys,
catching tear drops, I couldn't stop;
lifting the notes into crescent shells,
iridescent pools shimmering
in his affectionate breeze.
sultry smoothness enriching the air,
intoxicating, with heat drying tenderness
his voice intertwines lover's tones
alto sax sensual soothing undercurrents,
it's humming reed caressing,
kneading the palpable tension, relief,
and for moments so brief
I finally know peace.
Author notes
The first song, It Is Well, he sang was one of my favorites which he didn't know before he started singing caused tears to flow unchecked. It was a beautiful moment. I'll never forget.

beautiful
The imagery here is amazing....The emotion is there, I can feel it...
"sultry smoothness enriching the air,
intoxicating, with heat drying tenderness
his voice intertwines lover's tones
alto sax sensual soothing undercurrents,
it's humming reed caressing,"
Beautiful and touching....

Thank you for giving this a read through.
I appreciate your contest giving me a place to express these thoughts.
When you held your contest honoring Tim, Lionslove, I was beside myself and could hardly bear coming to this site but I did see your contest and appreciated it greatly. His parents continue to be impressed with reading the poems written for and about him.
since you had contact with him, I thought you'd appreciate this.
Hope your contest yeilds some wonderful muscially inspired poetry.

Superb/Inspirational
A most excellant and unusual write. Seems to combine both spirituality and romance. Very well written indeed. And definitely, as perhaps you intended, reminds me of this old hymn: http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/i/t/i/itiswell.htm

yes, that was the song.
I've always found it strange and a bit puzzling when spirituality and romance are separated. i remember kissing my husband in church before the service began and before there were a lot of people there, the minister happened to be walking by and said, caught ya!, I said, "what better place than church to kiss the man God gave me?" He agreed. I believe there is no mistake in the symbolism of the bride and bridegroom with Jehovah being a 'jealous' God (lover). Even after being divorced three years, I still feel that romance and spirituality are intertwined as passionately as any other pairing.
The man I'm referring to here is my late boyfriend. he died 12-28-06. We were going to look for engagement rings the following weekend... Trying to remember all the best of times to hold them close. It is well has been one of my favorites since i was child. Thanks for giving this a read. (sorry i rambled on -- it's been a kind of a lonely day.)
