Silent children

In these days I often cry
Death and life the reasons why.
We assign such value to a tree,
and none to life like you and me.

And my heart aches for all the silent children
I want the world to see
Each child is precious in His eyes,
And that baby could have been you or me.

If we can love and care about
such things as speckled rainbow trout
why the scales upon our eyes
when it comes down to human lives?

So now I cry out for all the silent children
the message they can never cry
"Please don't take my life away!
Please don't make me die!"

OMG. This is so beautiful and heart wrenching. Thank you for giving a voice to those children. A wonderful write flowing with emotion and imagery. We should care more about these children than we do about the things of the earth. Well said.

    stunning

We do care more about trees, fish, and other things than human life. He knew us all from the womb. I pray to the One to protect each and everyone.

I took it that the tree was planted in honor of a death. Also can see what you mean about how people will fight to save a fish but turn their heads on abortion.

This was a very good poem, the flow and rythm were completely on. I just don't agree with your opinion on abortion.

Abortion sentiment aside, A great deal of what your poem says is completely untrue. People, and humanity in general, do not put the environment or any other forms of natural life before our own. How can you even compare care for fish and tree's, with "killing babies"? They are completely unrelated, and not mutually exclusive. You can "assign value to a tree" and care for "speckled rainbow trout" and be against abortion. You can in fact care for all things at the same time. Love is conceptually limitless. And People are not aborting babies so as to conserve rainforests or fish stocks. And besides, far more evidence supports a complete neglect and lack of care for trees and fish in favour of human life and rampant modern consumption. You just need to look at the general state of the environment to see that. And even in the "developing world" where human-life can be said to be least-valued, the earth and it's myriad natural life are continually sidelined and degraded for human-welfare projects and development. And "each child is precious in His eyes"...and so are fish and trees. There is no need for any trade-off between nature and "babies". Obviously there is, in terms of population growth and increased resource consumption, but not in the scope of your poem. - "That baby could have been you or me" is an absolute untruth, as it isn't your or me, so it could never be. Look up determinism. And if your anti-abortion sentiment is religiously informed then you would be a "determinist" of sorts anyway, which would mean the supporting beliefs, acting as a premise for that lines argument, contradict the actual argument. Which logically makes it invalid anyway. I would go so far as to say that your poem is bordering on idiocy in rhyme. It's completely ridiculous on so many levels, regardless of Abortion sentiment. In future, perhaps write light-hearted rhymes, rather than touch on a topic so huge and complex, that, judging by your poem, far out-stretches your intellect. happy writing. And child bearing. theweatherman.

    Great!

I often wonder about the connection between nature and mankind, and if nature itself vomits at our existence when we behave such. It would be a fitting way for God to stomp His foot.

A very well-crafted poem with excellent rhyme and rhythm and one that I'm sure will stir up some controversy, but it's a free country last time I checked, and its your right to express yourself freely, even though many might not agree, which is also their right. Thanks for sharing your thoughts in this excellent poem.

    Responsum

Speckled trout when weighed in scales
    food chain finality prevails,
while child to man too often grows
    with spirit closed, destruction sows.

Trees flourishing on hills and dales
    photosynthesis fills vales
while child to man destructive crows
and, windlike, settles all by blows

    Nature bends to seasons' swims
    restraining birthrates not by whims
but bows to overall well being
not to dogma's rules all seeing
