Cowboy

 Up before the rising sun
and already riding out
Starting another long day
of wandering about
Chasing heifers across the fields
dust in your eyes
Tails lashing back and forth
batting at the flies
Hot sun beating down
sweat soaks your shirt
Riding on your horse all day
your back starts to hurt
As the sun begins to slid
behind the hills so far away
Stars begin to dot the sky
the end of a long day

Please tell me what you think

This is a part of real life

There is more to this than this to chasing cows
You have a good start. There is a little glory in being a cowboy, more when it is all through.

I loved the fact that you did not glorify this. It has a matter-of-factness that is truly cowboy. You took it from sunup to sundown and brought it alive.
