"A penny for them"

should I share?

A smile, or a tear...

not a care;

Without a fore thought,

shall we play it like sport...?

and tell all, for a do...

or a dare.

In a list

Please tell me what you think

    This was definetely very Whimsical. "A penny for your thoughts" is something said around my house often. We each carry pennies with us and when one is presented the first thing that we can think of no matter what it is.. is what is said. It keeps less tension and things are always more peaceful in our house than most other's I've noticed as we always talk about what we are thinking!

      Thank you for your kindness Yes, my old granny was fond of the saying...another favourite was "Take care of the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves"

    I think it is an interesting poem, but the effectiveness really varies on the context the reader see's it. If you were to put it in a random poetry book it wouldn't be as effective as say, in a booklet of some sort on the subject at hand.

      Thank you Douglas for your comments...yes, they would need to be compiled into " ideas" rather than randomly thrown to the wind I find I write this "ditties" when subject matter is scarce that being said, I do enjoy the nonsense behind the words of this whimsey as it brings out the "child" in me

    "and tell all, for a do...
    or a dare."

    I like this ending, very nicely thought about. This poem is short, sweet and cute. I like the way you
    expressed a beauty within this. The picture is also very beautiful!!!

    This is a "cute" poem. The temptation and hesitancy that surrounds a thought you want to share but dare not. There are associations here for everyone, I'm sure.
