A Prayer for Adam

Son,
Gary,
my wishes
for happiness
as you dwell above
in heavenly places,
blessing the Lord with your smile
that brought joy to me each morning,
gracing this heart with love given me,
that remains within dad’s soul ‘til we meet.

As this prayer floats towards wind swept heavens,
memories of your small hand in mine
as I led you along life’s path,
your hand awaits mine, outstretched
to guide me beside you
when father and son
are united,
until then,
all my
love.

Author notes

I wrote it as I thought you would speak it, dear Gary. It is filled with love for you and your son, and all our thoughts are with you both.

What do I say to such woderful friends I have here at AP. I will keep these poems and read each one to him at his site on his memorial date, also I will be adding them to his page here. These precious words you all have written here have touched me more than you will ever know and the tears the words have brought. But tears I wouldnt trade for the world to and from you beautiful people here. I thank you from the very bottom of my heart for taking this time from your valueable days and family. God bless...Love GETS

Please forgive my standarized comment here, but I am too emotional to see or think straight to leave a proper comment but felt a comment was certainly called for. I want to thank you for taking the time to honor Gary and his son Adam. Your words and sentiment are truly felt, trust me. My tears don't lie.

    PS

You owe me one dollar for a box of tissues I used reading this.

What a beautiful prayer, what love can be felt within this poem, difficult contest to read and yet all this love and opening up of hearts for a friend's terrible loss, this simply is so touchingly beautiful and felt...
My thought and prayers go out to your friend and I wish I knew what to say, but this poem/prayer is so tender and meant, I agree with frozentearz, you did such a special job of extending your hand in friendship, here.
    Best to you,
    m.

This is going to be a hard contest to read,
because it is filled with emotions from friends here at A.P. I think you did a wonderful job extending your hand in friendship with this poem.
    Love and Light to all.
    Blessings
